A desktop in your hostel room can be good enough, but a laptop can really come in handy, in-fact very handy. Going through all the lectures in the in the canteen or in the lush green lawns can prove quite facilitating.

Don’t go for Alienware by the way; you will be pretty badly distracted playing games.

These rather inexpensive laptops will just about do the trick of every day lecture sorting and crawling.
