The Star Fighter Planes which served in World War II

The 2nd World War started in the year 1939 and lasted till 1945 in an ultimate massacre led by the America. The countries of the world associated with either the Axis powers or the Allies and battled in a total war. The Aerial forces that took part in the combat played a vital role in the history of Wars and thus it forced us to gather the Aircrafts which served the World War II.

Gloster Meteor: Great Britain

Glostrer Meteor was an allied fighter which served a great deal against Germans Me 262 powered with Two Rolls-Royce W.2B/ 23C Welland I turbojet engines each of which can provide an ultimate thrust of 1,700 lb and armed with four 20 mm Mk III cannons, torpedoes and rockets.

Gloster took its debut flight in the year 1943; the Meteor became the RAF’s first equipped jet when it entered overhaul with No. 616 squadron on 12th July 1944. It was the only allied jet fighter to pierce service before the end of the WWII, making its outfitted introduction against V-1 flying bombs launched against southern England. After the World War II many different and advanced products were developed.

The Gloster Meteor was 41 feet long having a wingspan of 43 feet, a height of 13 feet with a top speed of 417 miles per hour. The production of Meteor was suspended in the year 1954.

Hawker Hurricane: Great Britain

The Hawker Hurricane was industrialized by Sidney Camm. The Hurricane as a fighter plane was to revolutionize all upcoming fighter plane designs. It was also supposed to play a very fundamental role in the Battle of Britain and ultimately in many other platforms of the Second World War.

The Hurricane took its first flight in the year February 1938. In this month, a Hawker Hurricane steered by Squadron Leader J W Gillan, the commanding officer of 111 Regiment.

The primary function of the Hawker Hurricane was to serve as Fighter-bomber powered by One Rolls-Royce Merlin XX V-12 engine which is rated at 1,280 horse power. The Hawker Hurricane was the first fighter jet to break 300 miles per hour of speed being at level.

Junkers Ju-87 Stuka: Romanian Air Force

The Junkers Ju-87 Stuka was supposed to serve the purpose of a Dive bomber powered with an engine of 1,300 horse powers; the Ju-87 Stuka featured an automatic pull-up scheme and wind-powered sirens on the wheel covers that screamed during dives to create panic in its victims, armed with Two 7.9mm MG17 and two 7.9mm MG81Z. It had the capability to carry a destructive payload of 3,527 lbs.

Messerschmitt Bf-109: Germany

The Nazi created an ultimate flying fighter which served Germany in the 2nd World War; the engine fitted was rated at 1,475 hp. A technological spectacle, it took its debut flight in the year 1935, the Bf-109 served on all fronts through the entire war. The Bf-109 was produced in a great manner although it was much outdated then other Allied Fighters. The Bf-109 was armed and loaded with two 13 mm MG 131 guns and also one 20 mm MG 151/20 or one 30 mm MK 108 cannon, bombs and rockets. It had a top operational speed of 395 miles per hour and a maximum ceiling height of 40,000 feet.

Messerschmitt Me 262 Swallow: Germany

The Me 262 Swallow was the first turbo jet aircraft; it was much faster and swift than other conformist air planes. The Me 262 deployed very lately in the battle field due to some development problems, allied bombing runs and a Luftwaffe leadership. In the year 1943, the German dictator Adolf Hitler agreed to the massive production of Me 262 but on one condition that it will be used basically as a fighter bomber.

The Me 262 Swallow was powered by two Jumo 004B-1 turbojet engines which can generate a powerful thrust of 4,050 pounds. It was armed and loaded with four 30-mm MK 108 cannons and 24 55-mm R4M rockets.

Mitsubishi A6M Zero: Japan

The Mitsubishi A6M Zero plane was a nightmare for the allied forces in the year 1941; it was first deployed and appeared in China according to the earlier reports. It happened for the first time that a carrier fighter out do land planes. The Mitsubishi was a fast plane that can create panic and bring the fight near the door for its enemy, capable to do tremendous maneuvering and had a remarkable stamina.

The Mitsubishi A6M Zero was powered with a single Nakajima NK1F Sakae 21 engine capable to produce a massive thrust of 1,130 horse power.  The Zero was armed and loaded with 2 x 7.7 mm machine guns, 2 x cannons and two external 132 pounds heavy bombs. It was the Japanese Mitsubishi Zero that shook Americans in their attack on the Pearl Harbour and hence holds the record to be the first shipboard plane capable of defeating land based rivals.

 Supermarine Spitfire: Great Britain

The Supermarine Spitfire was the fighter plane which served as the Royal Air Force and many other Allied countries throughout the World War II, powered with one Rolls-Royce Merlin rated at 1,470 horse power with a top speed of 374 miles per hour. The Spitfire was armed and loaded with two 20 mm cannons, four machine guns and destructive payload of 500 lb bomb.
