Web is full of hacking softwares and most of them believe that their product is most powerful and effective. There are many tool that I’ve used on Windows and Linux platform, but my compiled list contains only those tools which works on both platforms.

10. Eraser

Eraser is an advanced security tool for Windows which allows you to completely remove sensitive data from your hard drive by overwriting it several times with carefully selected patterns. Eraser is currently supported under Windows XP (with Service Pack 3), Windows Server 2003 (with Service Pack 2), Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2.

Eraser is Free software and its source code is released under GNU General Public License.

9. PUTTY

PuTTY is a free and open source terminal emulator application which can act as a client for the SSH, Telnet, rlogin, and raw TCP computing protocols and as a serial console client. PuTTY was originally written for Microsoft Windows, but it has been ported to various other operating systems. Official ports are available for some Unix-like platforms, with work-in-progress ports to Classic Mac OS and Mac OS X, and unofficial ports have been contributed to platforms such as Symbian and Windows Mobile.

Works great on both Linux and Windows (with a GUI), easy to use and can reconstruct TCP/IP Streams!.
