The Barrett M82 is a short recoil semi-automatic anti-materiel rifle manufactured by the American Barrett Firearms Manufacturing company. As it is a heavy SASR (Special Application Scoped Rifle), many armies and units all around the world use it. “Light Fifty” is also a name that it is often called with because of its 50 caliber BMG (12.7 mm) chambering. The weapon has two variants: the original M82A1 (and A3) and the bullpup M82A2. The M82A2 has been replaced by XM500 as it is no longer manufactured.
This weapon, especially the M107 variant, has a maximum range of 7,450 yards (6,812m) and the M107 has the maximum effective range of 2,000 yards (1,829m). However, if fired in an artillery-fashion, a greater distance could potentially be travelled by fifty caliber and larger rounds.
