3. Jeepneys (Philippines)

3. Jeepneys (Philippines)The story of jeepneys started when the U.S army sold hundreds of jeeps to the local once they left the Philippines after WWII. Happy to have a vehicle for themselves, the locals bought the jeeps but were not too happy with the fact that the jeeps were originally designed to carry soldiers. They stripped the unnecessary parts, added a roof and voila, they got themselves a cool jeep. Now all they need was  to add colors to the vehicle and they did not hold back. Today some manufacturers have started to build electricity powered jeeps as well.

2. Customized Vans (U.S.A.)Like other vehicles in the list, the customized vans too were more of a culture than just a vehicle. In the 1960’ mostly hippies and surfers used such vehicles but it was more than that. The van symbolized the comforts of home and the facilities that were mobile. Custom van culture combined the free-wheeling nomad-ism of the Sixties with the do-anything-to-feel-good hedonism of the Seventies and it became one of the most cherished era for our elder generation.
