Avatar in 2D
Avatar was a huge blockbuster success both domestically and internationally. However, Chinese officials were not very happy with it. They claim the film’s story could incite subversive ideas. For this reason, they opted by banning the 2D version of this movie. The purpose behind this bizarre decision was to avoid the movie to be screened in most cinemas since most of them don’t offer 3D screenings. Nonetheless, the movie still managed to be successful at the Chinese box office.
