Mystical, foreboding, and downright beautiful–these are just some of the words that can be used to describe the landscape images shot by German photographer Kilian Schönberger. He was immensely inspired by the legendary dark fairytales by the Grimm Brothers, which led him to call this series as “Brothers Grimm’s Wanderings.”
He captured landscapes and buildings in a very enchanting and magical manner, which also highly speaks of Schönberger’s artistic skills and attention to detail as a photographer. “I think there is a deep longing for tranquil naturalness among people in our technology-driven environment. Therefore, I don’t want to show just portrayals of natural scenes–I want to create visually accessible places where the visitor can virtually put his mind at rest and make up his own stories,” Schönberger writes on his website.
One thing that’s even more inspiring and amazing about him is the fact that he’s colorblind. He was quoted saying, “I recognised that I could turn this so-called disadvantage into a strength and develop my own unique photographic view.” And without further ado, check out and be enthralled with this series of landscape images by Kilian Schönberger:
