Turn Your Phone Into A Hologram With This Simple Trick

hologram 4

Holographic displays are common features of science fiction movies that are been made these days, but being able to experience them in a real life situation is quite rare as they require really expensive parts. The surprising news not just lies in the fact that this can now be done without having to spent tons of cash on equipment, but the fact that it can be done with things that most likely 90% of Earth’s population has held in their life. An old CD case, sticky tape and a smartphone, amazing isn’t it?

The hack was demonstrated with a video of a fluorescent jellyfish seemingly hovering in mid-air and a butterfly flapping its wings. While hologram technology might be thought of as high-tech, this mini hologram projector can be made right in your home with nothing that you are unfamiliar with.

In order to make a hologram for yourself, you will need a sheet of graph paper, a pen, an old plastic CD/ a firm transparent plastic material, a sharp knife/ glass cutter, and a ruler. With these tools you will first need to draw a basic trapezium that will form the blueprints for the device. As shared in the video, the dimensions are 1 cm by 3.5 cm by 6 cm (0.4 by 1.4 by 2.4 inches) so you will need to cut this trapezium shape from the plastic material you have chosen. Do this until you have four of the same trapezium shaped pieces. When fitted together with tape or glue, they should form an upside down pyramid shape.

Now to make the device come to life, all you need to do is to place the instrument you have made on top of the screen of your smartphone while it plays a video that was specifically designed for hologram. These videos can be found on Youtube.
