The Cast
In the Netflix adaptation, American actor Nat Wolff (The Fault in Our Stars) plays Light Yagami, who might actually have a new American name. Some argue that despite the series being an American adaptation, the actor should be played by someone of Japanese origin. On the other hand, detective L is brought to life by African-American actor Lakeith Stanfield (Selma), bringing some diversity into the cast. Another notable actor in the upcoming movie is Hollywood veteran William J. Dafoe who plays Ryuk, a “death god”.
