E3 is known for it’s surprise reveals that keep fans on the edge. It keeps us wondering what could come next. These are the most notable reveals the exposition has offered throughout the years:

  • 1995: Sony’s PlayStation
  • 1996: Nintendo’s 64 console. Square Enix’s Final Fantasy VII
  • 1997: Konami presents Hideo Kojima’s Metal Gear Solid
  • 1998: Valve’s Half-Life and Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
  • 1999: Sega presents their console, the DreamCast
  • 2000: Sony’s PlayStation 4 and Microsoft’s first console, the XBOX

  • 2008: Resident Evil 5, God Of War 3, FallOut 3
  • 2009: Microsoft and Sony introduce their versions of “kinetic gameplay” with motion detector devices for their consoles
  • 2010: Nintendo’s new portable console, the Nintendo 3DS
  • 2011: Sony’s new portable console, the PlayStation Vita
  • 2012: PlayStation’s cross-over game, PlayStation Battle Royale
  • 2013: Microsoft’s XBOX One and Sony’s PlayStation 4
  • 2014: Nintendo’s Mario Maker
  • 2015: Square Enix confirms Final Fantasy VII Remake in the works
  • 2016: Nintendo’s Breath of the Wild, EA’s Battlefield 1 and Microsoft announces Project Scorpio
