Da Vinci is not only responsible for the popular image of the Mona Lisa, but also for the renowned Vitruvian Man. He drew a perfect human design based on proportions postulated by Vitruvius, a roman architect. The drawing reflects the idea of man as the principal source of proportion. Furthermore, this piece of work has been studied in mathematical, scientific and even philosophical contexts throughout the centuries.
