Another sign of authenticity is that the 119 bids made for the item came from 37 different eBay accounts. The California-based seller, “Valuestampsinc”, has been a seller on eBay since 2008. The account mostly sells DVDs, VHS tapes and Blu-Ray discs. The account has received a 100% rating since the last 12 months and has completed 105 successful sales.

If this auction turns out to be a legitimate one, it won’t be the first time that someone would have attempted to make a real payday out of a joke on the internet. In July 2014, a man named Zach Brown started a Kickstarter campaign with a goal of $10 to make a potato salad. The campaign was able to raise a whopping $55,000. Brown used the extra funds to throw a massive party that October.
