No 10. Dubai Lost City

This project by Nakheel, is under construction currently and upon completion will depict a series of old lost cities from different parts of the ancient world that were later, in the form of villas, town houses and apartments.

No 9. The World Islands


Constructed from 321 million cubic metres of sand and 31 million tons of rock, this is an artificial group of various small islands constructed in the rough shape of a world map. Being developed by Nakheel Properties, the world islands are currently on hold due to the 2008 global recession. The construction began in 2003 and by 2008, 60 percent of the islands were already sold.

No 8. Burj Al Alam


This is a 108-story, 1,670 ft hyperboloid skyscraper being constructed in the Business Bay area of Dubai. Being built by the fortune group, the tower is currently on hold. It will also feature a 6-storey crown that will contain a Turkish bath, sky garden, and other club facilities apart from office space, hotel rooms and retail areas.

No 7. Mall of Arabia


Being built by Ilyas and Mustafa Galadari Group as part of the City of Arabia in the Dubailand theme park premises in Dubai, the Mall of Arabia is to have a gross leasable area of 50,000,000 sq ft. When opened in 2013, it will be the world’s largest shopping mall.
