A stressful day at work is all it takes to trigger your brain to respond with shallow breathing. This pocket device is here to help you to stay focused and relaxed during those strenuous times. The Spire device is a new activity tracker that regulates your breathing pattern. The gadget is able to monitor your breathing as well as track how much time you have spent sitting or lying down.
The smart device pairs with your phone through an app and sends the data gathered to the cloud for analysis. When it notices a potential impediment to mental well-being, a real-time activity recommendation is sent to the user’s smartphone to help in resolving the imbalance.
The interior of the device includes a battery which lasts up to 7 days, advance sensors and radio suite to process the data , and Qi coils for wireless charging.
Founders say that the device is able to monitor and recognize different types of breathing patterns and what they might mean in terms of how someone is feeling — tense, relaxed, focused, or simply out of breath thanks to a heavy workout.
“Breathing patterns are incredibly sensitive to state of mind,” said Neema Moraveji, Ph.D, Spire co-founder.’‘The key breakthrough of using respiratory patterns to measure state-of-mind is that it allows us to provide feedback that is easy to understand and act upon.”
The Spire wearable can be worn on the hip or torso and does not require physical contact with the skin. A charging pack and a Qi standard pad for wireless charging is also provided with the gadget. The pad plugs into a power socket and easily allows you to place the device on it for charging without the use of connecting cables.
Spire is available for pre-order at US$114 and will retail for US$149.99. Customers will not have to wait long to get their hands on this nifty little gadget as it will be made available this fall.
