Solar Panels are very important for today’s world where world is suffering from pollution due to massive use of non-renewable fuels. Sun’s energy is cost free and pollution free that’s why solar panels have great importance. And in this field of solar panels improvement is going ahead continuously.

Now the good news is transparent solar panel has been developed by Michigan State University’s researcher’s team. These when placed in sunlight creates solar energy and also allows seeing through it. They are calling it “a transparent luminescent solar concentrator”, It can be placed on any flat-clean surface like on building and devices like cell phones. So we can say that it providing the energy without losing visibility.

Also in past few years plastic color materials are being tested which yield poor results and also it is difficult to sit behind the colored glass. The research team developed organic molecules. These molecules absorb specific non-visible wavelengths of sunlight which is making the panel transparent.

The key person Richard Lunt (Assistant Professor at MSU’s College of Engineering) said:

We can tune these materials to pick up just the ultraviolet and the near infrared wavelengths that then ‘glow’ at another wavelength in the infrared. Because the materials do not absorb or emit light in the visible spectrum, they look exceptionally transparent to the human eye.

It might look like this.

The main problem of these Solar Panel is energy producing efficiency which is just 1% but aim is to reach above the 5%. Still project is in early stages but they said it has the potential to be used in commercial and industrial applications at cheap prices.
