
Prominent Women
The ‘Women of NASA’ Lego set will feature the following five women:
Margaret Hamilton: Programmer in charge of developing software used in Apollo moon missions.
Katherine Johnson: Mathematician and space scientist. She is known for calculating and verifying trajectories of the Apollo and Mercury programs, including Apollo 11.
Sally Ride: Astronaut, physicist and teacher who became the first women in space in the year 1983.
Nancy Grace Roman: Astronomer, known as “the mother of Hubble” thanks to her key roles in the development of the Hubble Telescope. Furthermore, she developed NASA’s investigation program.
Mae Jaminson: She became the first Afro-American woman to visit space in the year 1992. She later funded a company that develops new technologies and promotes science among the youth.
