While there were similar tables like the one Elligiers built already on the market, they thought that the options were too expensive with prices ranging from $800 to $1500, and unappealing. Most of these desks were made of metal, but Ellegiers thought it would be cheaper to make his model out of plywood. Prior to completing the project, his teacher friend requested a smaller version for her classroom. They said the students loved the desk so much that they had to implement a reward system for them to take turns to use it. Knowing this, Ellegiers realized that the table had much potential.
