People who have electric powered cars would definitely love this new invention by Goodyear. Many drivers of electric cars have fears as some of the vehicles that have heavy batteries with limited capacity remain slow to charge. At the 2015 Geneva International Auto Show, Goodyear unveiled its concept for a heat-gathering, electricity-generating tire that is possible by making a few changes to an oft-overlooked component.
While they are currently a little vague on the details of the BH03 concept tire, they however shared that the tire would capture the heat generated by the friction of the tire rolling along the road, as well as from the flexing of the tire under normal driving conditions. They also shared that the tire itself, in the form of a layer of thermo-piezoelectric material, could capture light and heat when the vehicle is stationary, and transform that into more electricity.
The method and specs providing the details as to how the tires would hook up to the battery pack of a car was remains unknown, along with the details that would pose an officially or potential release date, price and availability.
