Top ten richest countries list in the world is based on the GDP per capita of each country. GDP or the Gross Domestic Product is the total market value of all final goods and services produced in a country in a given year.
10. Netherlands: GDP of $40,973
The Netherlands is intensely modern and industrialized country. The leader industries are food processing, petroleum refining, and the manufacture of chemicals, electrical machinery, metal products, and electronics. The country’s only some natural resources include coal, natural gas, and petroleum. An extensive quantity of the country’s wealth is added annually by monetary and transportation services. Amsterdam is one of the world’s major financial centers, and Rotterdam is one of the world’s busiest ports. The Netherlands has a great foreign trade. The main exports are machinery, chemicals, natural gas, processed foods, and horticultural products. Imports include machinery, transportation equipment, chemicals, fuels, foodstuffs, and clothing. The main trading partners are Germany, Belgium, France, and Great Britain. This makes her to be listed among the richest countries of the world.
9. Switzerland: GDP of $41,950
Switzerland has an extremely flourishing marketplace economy based on worldwide trade and banking. Its principles of living, worker productivity, quality of education, and health care are superior to any other European country. Inflation is low, and redundancy is trifling. The economy is heavily dependent on foreign guest workers, who represent about 20% of the labor force. Agriculture employs less than 5% of the population, and since only 10% of the land is arable, the primary agricultural products are cattle and dairy goods; grains, fruits, and vegetables are also grown, and there is a large chocolate-processing industry. Her most important trading associates are Germany, Italy, France, the United States, and Great Britain.
8. Honkong: GDP of $45,944
Though not an independant country but as one of the world’s most important global financial centers, Hong Kong has a main entrepreneur service economy characterized by short duty and free trade, and the currency, Hong Kong dollar, is the ninth most traded currency in the world. Hong Kong has remained as the world’s freest economy, according to Index of Economic Freedom since the inception of the index in 1995.

my country is not in the list :/
pretty sure this is inaccurate, as America is broke, and is slowly going under, also as of this second Australia’s GDP stands at $1.131 Trillion which pretty much dwarfs most of these figures, even at our recent lowest we had 924.1974 Billion, which still earns a spot here and that was in 2009.
Monaco GDP (nominal) 2011 estimate
– Total $6.581 billion (136th)
– Per capita $172,676 (1st)
Qatar
GDP (nominal) 2011 estimate
– Total $173.847 billion
– Per capita $98,329

Maybe its to good for this list lol

Conan McDermott, these figures are giving GDP Per Capita… not total GDP. Last year Austrlia’s GDO Per Capita was ~$39,400.
Woww.. HonKong listed on eight..
But i dont understand why it didnt post the flag of Hong Kong?
and i never seen Hong Kong = HonKong LOLL
The given data ain’t the GDP, it’s per capita income…
N00b writer!!!
It is not GDP. It is PCI (Per Capita Income).
Not include my country
Conan mcdermott, read the sentence before # 1. That’s should help, if not God help you.
Wonder when any African Country would make the TOP ten…Hopefully Nigeria can someday..lol
proud to be Bruneian
This list would seem a lot more legitimate if you linked to your data source. What year GDP are you basing it on? If it’s not adjusted for purchasing power differences, then it’s pretty irrelevant. If it is, you should make that clear.
Sheesh, people. It’s GDP PER CAPITA.
And, btw authors, Hong Kong is not a country.
Philippines is not in the list, We are rich in Talent! Lmao
Soon Philippines will be in that list.
GDP per capita is a measure of productivity, not wealth. It simply means the donkey is working very hard for his master, maybe a foreigner!
What’s the point? though the country’s rich but the people aren’t. Standard of living is still high as hell, we are sure not happy. at all.
USA in no.7?
Is this a joke?
This country has its head up in its own ass in debt!
1.6 trillion dollars! This ‘official’ figure is a hell lot less than what it actually is! USA is broke!
Funny how who the top 10 riches countries, have the most people trying to immigrate to other countries.
Mine is! The Netherlands. You are welcome…
I am from Holland and I certainly have not felt it. Those statistics often do not meen the paper it is written on. I bleive however that Luxemberg tops it .
How is Australia not on that list? I’m pretty sure we escaped the worst of the GFC and are very well off, financially.
