Best of 2012 Detroit Auto Show

Well, you don’t go further when you are looking for the best and you come across the Detroit Auto Show. It is the No. 1 place for manufacturers seeking to unveil their latest and greatest models. This year saw more than 50 cars being unveiled at the show. So, here is our list of the best of those.

No 10. 2012 Toyota Prius C



This model is a smaller version of the popular Prius, with base price arounf $19,000. It is supposed to have a fuel economy of 53 mpg city and 46 mpg highway. Equipped with smaller version of the Prius Liftback’s hybrid drive system, the Prius C goes on sale in March.

No 9. 2013 Scion FR-S



Light and having a well-balanced chassis, the 2013 Scion FR-S is an all-new, rear-wheel-drive sport coupe co-developed by Toyota and Subaru. It will boast a 2.0-liter engine having 200 horsepower and producing 151 pound-feet of torque

No 8. Lexus LF-LC Concept



This breathtaking 2+2 sport coupe has a front-engine and rear-drive hybrid powertrain. It is much bolder than your typical Lexus and features glass galore and flat, sleek planes. Unfortunately, the car isn’t slated for production in the near future as for now.

No 7. 2013 Ford Fusion



Having multiple powertrain options and available in all-wheel drive, the base 2013 Ford Fusion comes with 2.5-liter four-cylinder producing 170 hp. One of the two hybrid versions of the same is capable 47 mpg in the city and 44 on the highway.



No 6. 2013 Ford Escape



With and MSRP of $22,470, the Ford Escape will be available in variations as a 2.5L 4-cyl. engine, 1.6L 4-cyl. engine and a 2.0L 4-cyl. engine car. This model, infact, will be based on the Ford Kuga, a compact crossover SUV sold in Europe and is set to go on sale in the summer.

No 5. 2013 Dodge Dart



To be available somewhere in fall, the 2013 Dodge Dart will be available in three four-cylinder engines configurations: a 2.0-liter, a 2.4-liter and a turbocharged 1.4-liter. Starting at $16,000, this sedan is to have a fuel economy of 40 mpg.

No 4. Chevrolet Tru 140S Concept



Yet another concept car in our list is this spiritual sibling to the Code 130S Concept. Coming with 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 150 hp and 148 pound-feet of torque to the front wheels, the Tru 140S Concept would carry an MSRP of around $25,000. While some sources suggest it would come with an MSRP of $20,000, we think the former price tag is more probable.

No 3. Chevrolet Code 130R Concept



Equipped with a turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine delivering 150 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque, this concept could boast up to 40 miles per gallon when realized. It will also come with the option of choosing between automatic or manual transmission. MSRP? $25,000



No 2. 2013 Cadillac ATS



The base ATS comes with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine capable of 200 horsepower and 188 pound-feet of torque. It will feature sport seats with power-adjustable bolsters, a head-up display, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, blind-spot detection, a rearview camera, adaptive headlamps and collision-sensing brakes. Awesome package indeed.

No 1. 2012 Acura NSX Concept



This concept has a V6 engine with a new Honda all-wheel-drive system that relies on electric motors to power the front wheels. It is touted to make use of lightweight materials with high technology for supercar performance and respectable fuel economy.
