#10. British Liner Titanic $150 Million

The most famous British Liner sank in the year April 14, 1912. On its maiden voyage from England to New York the sparkling new beauty of the sea hit an ice berg and became the reason of its burial in the sea.1500 passengers lost their life in this mishap. The Loss provided an economic set back, millions was invested for the Titanic which drowned with it and never redeemed.  The ship’s precise location remained unknown for the next seventy years until it was located by a team of oceanographers led by the famous Dr. Robert Ballard in 1985, thereby opening the doors to renewed interest in the famous ship.

 

#9. Tanker Truck v/s Bridge $358 Million

In the year 2004 dated August 24; a fast moving car crashed into an oil tanker truck enclosing 32,000 liters of petroleum on the Wiehltal Bridge in Germany. The tanker crashed through the guardrail and fell 90 feet off the A4 Autobahn resulting in an enormous outburst and fire which destroyed the load-carrying capability of the bridge. The bridge was first temporarily repaired costing $40 million and the cost to swap the bridge was estimated at $318 Million.

#8. MetroLink Crash $500 Million

In the year 2008 dated September 12; worst train crash occurred in the history of California history, 25 people died when a Metrolink commuter train crashed head-on into a Union Pacific freight train in Los Angeles. It was predicted that the Metrolink train may have sprint through a red signal while the conductor was busy text messaging. Illegal death complaints are expected to cause $500 million in losses for Metrolink.
