Iomega has introduced its Mac Companion Hard Drive, styled to match the latest Mac computers equipped with a port to charge your iPad, iPhone and iPod.
Initially offered only at Apple stores, Iomega’s Mac Companion Hard Drive has the following features:
- A 2TB or 3TB model (US$195 and $295, respectively) with two Firewire 800 interfaces and a USB 2.0 hub;
- A space saving design;
- A capacity gauge that lights up as the drive becomes space less.
Bundled Iomega Protection Suite software is included for no added cost (via download) with Mac-friendly options for backup and anti-virus protection for your computer.
The Iomega Mac Companion Hard Drive consumes a 7200 RPM 3.5-inch hard drive formatted HFS+ for compatibility with Macs right out of the box. It’s the only major branded external HFS+ Mac desktop hard drive available in the market today that incorporates a high-powered Apple device charging port and a two-port USB 2.0 hub, claims Iomega President Jonathan Huberman.
