@azumanga MIT chalk, a grade above the rest.
@schadenko
I tried typing the link exactly as what professor wrote on the blackboard, and it does work, I got directed to the site for 2010 !
I really needed linear algebra for my research and this helped me a lot. I recommend to buy “introduction to linear algebra” by himself to take full advantage of the course. Best wishes for Prof Strang From Adel, Australia.

I am only getting sound from one side of my speakers for this video and its just this video. Sound quality is also not very good in general
The proper link to the course: ocw.mit.edu/courses/mathematics/18-06-linear-algebra-spring-2010/
The link to course is broken, could you fix it?
@UrSadMate He’s just stating his opinion. I found this lecture awesome, but everyone has different preferences and their own opinion. Don’t be so angry about something so small. calling him nerd, and “so sad” doesn’t reflect a great level of maturity in your part. I don’t mean this as a personal assault, but I’m just trying to tell you to calm down, and try to look from others’ perspectives. Youtube is a public environment, and taking advantage of your anonymity like this isn’t right.
the best
Lol i dont pretend to imagine 9-D
Ya know, you are pretty sad too… Keep it to yourself…
@cameronchilders93
well done nerd, we really needed to know that “in your maths classes you always try to make each and every step logical and transparent as possible.”
i find it hard for you to be any logical since you said “this lecture wasnt bad” with such arrogance. this is a maths professor from MIT, one of the top universities in the whole world… im pretty sure that if HE’s teaching there and YOU’RE not there is a LOT of reasons. one of them might be your arrogance… you are so sad..
This lecture wasn’t bad; though he could have put more preparation into delineating more clearly the matrix “mechanics” equivalency to the frank linear equations.
In my classes, I always try very hard to make each and every step logical and as transparent as possible.
Why work hard trying to understand complicated Math,Physics,Chemistry courses. Get help from tutors who can do your work. visti them at homeworkneeds dot come
thanks from malaysia…
i’m italian and you guys are so lucky being american or english!!! it’s really hard to learn specific language of subjects… after is needed to retranslate everything to do the exam to your teacher here, in italian!!!
DD
…or maybe i may directly talk in english!!!
@weyrauch They have a lot of MIT and Stanford Lectures on Youtube so you can pretty much learn anything.
It’s just a shame there’s only one MIT.
I’m glad my University is as Good as MIT though.
In Mr Smith Goes to Washington
“I wouldn’t give you two cents for all your fancy rules, if behind them they didn’t have a little ordinary everyday human kindness, and a little lookin’ out for the other fella, too.”
(As Professor Strang lists the 10 rules that determinants must obey.)
- Ray Eston Smith Jr
Jimmy Stewart In Harvey:
“I’ve wrestled with reality for 35 years, and I’m happy, Doctor, I finally won out over it.”
(as Professor Strang graphs a 4-dimensional sub-space.)
In Rear Window:
“That would be a terrible job to tackle. Just how would you start to cut up a human body?”
(As Professor Strang factors a matrix into L and U components.)
These are great lectures – so great they deserve to be spoofed. Notice how much Professor Strang sounds like Jimmy Stewart – they’re practically orthogonal complements. Mix clips of Jimmy Stewart movies with clips from the lectures, interchanging audio and video. Video of Jimmy roping the moon in Wonderful Life, or filibustering the Senate in Mr Smith Goes to Washington. Jimmy was always saying things applicable to linear algebra. Some MIT wiz kid should do it.
I love his sense of humor: “3 dimensions, less clear – 4 dimensions, a little less clear”
@msk7046 it would be applied mostly in engineering, computer science, and physics careers.
@weyrauch ich hoffe, mir wird’s bei der nachklausur im oktober auch helfen
schöne grüße aus österreich!
i will definitely go to this college after studying at Argentina at the ITBA, in order to have a degree in mathematics.
@msk7046 Why are you so hostile towards the subject? Mathematicians, Physicists, Engineers, and maybe some artists need it. If you don’t, then don’t worry about it.
