Special Forces specialize in counter-terrorism, reconnaissance, and sabotage and have the honor of being the most elite among the forces. They undergo extremely rigorous training for years sometimes, before they are ready and when they are done with the training, they can be easily classified as among the toughest and most competent men in the military. Today, we take a look at the best Special Forces from around the world.
No 10. Spetsnaz
Spetsnaz is a general term for “special forces” in Russian. They are the equivalent of US Green Berets and instead of undergoing regular training like the other special forces around the world, the Spetsnaz endure pain through punishment daily throughout their training.
The Spetsnaz injure each other, breaking ribs, fingers and vertebrae to heal later on, only to get punished even further. They claim that pain can’t be avoided, so they are taught to enjoy it.
No 9. French Naval Commandos
The French Naval Commandos consists of approximately 500 members. They are called the bérets verts, meaning Green Berets. Having one the toughest training in the world, the Naval commandos were formed during World War II.
The Naval Commandos consist of 6 units: Hubert, Trepel, de Montfort, de Penfentenyo, Jaubert, and Kieffer. Each unit is trained for specific tasks such as sea combat, exfiltration, canine units, or long range fire support.

I think we need to think about numbers and the difficulty of training here. If we study all factors there is no doubt that the Portuguese Marines of the Special Actions Detachment are one of the best, if not the best Special Troop in the world.
The average age of its marines it’s 28 years old because only the best of the best and only the ones with lots of experience get accepted to START the training.
It’s very hard getting to be a Portuguese Marine, it’s ELEVEN MONTHS of training just to be able to wear the dark blue beret (no surprises here, the Portuguese Marine Corps has almost FOUR CENTURIES of experience).
The Marine course has 70% of dropouts.
Of those 30% who last until the end, only 5 to 10 % of very experienced candidates manage to pass the admission tests to the DAE training.
On top of that, they frequently train with George’s beloved SEALs, British SAS, Rangers, French Commandos, etc.
Even more impressive is the fact that they are such an elite that they only have (currently) 14 members and, since the DAE creation in 1985, only a total of 88 men served among its ranks.
(By the way, an AMERICAN Marine general that saw the Portuguese troops in action once said that a perfect marine would have the Portuguese training and the American equipment).
Oh! Almost forgot…
There are 2000 SEAL’s for 300 millions in the USA.
If Portugal was to have that number of people, there would still only be 420 DAE’s Marines.
Conclusion: Portuguese DAE Marines are four times better than the American SEAL’s.
It’s funny seeing all these so called “Warrior’s” in the top 10 yet they can’t even achieve success in Afghanistan, such a damn pity hey! Idiots!

The Norwegian Special forces are the best there is. Anyone up to date, knowing what they talk about will know this. They are highly adaptable, and versatile. One week in the woods is nothing to these guys they’ll just come out saying: we want to stay at least a fortnight :p

A Special Forces Unit capability is not determined by how much beating or harsh their training is or how classified, capability is reflected in competency. Competency is often most easily viewed by how effective a unit preforms in live fire combat environments. The Reason American SF is most represented in top 10 charts is because they are involved in the most live combat, which is both a proving point and modern combat experience. For all those who are saying everyone else is wrong about another’s country, be aware how easy it is to start spreading arrogance within one’s own country’s military Force. Again referring to above; you can find info on Delta Force that is correct, but Delta Officially speaking does not exist; as the US Army will tell you they do no… its one of those Open Secrets… I ask if this is American Propaganda… why is it the UK hold no.1? (to stop you right there, I’m not American at all, my country’s Special Forces isn’t even on the list)
