Oooh No8 is not so good. *IF* the car doesn’t sink too far that’s fine. It’s not when the car is full of water that the doors will open, it’s when the pressure inside the car matches that outside. As long as the car is sinking the pressure inside will be lower than that outside, the internal pressure lags behind that outside. It is only a few seconds after the car hits bottom that the pressure equalizes. In deep water it can take a a long time before the car hits bottom. The answer? Open the door as soon as the car hits water. It works. Ably demonstrated by Richard Hammond on Top Gear (s3e3). Busters, busted!
