Cheytac amazing gun has yet to prove itself in real combat situation.
The L115A3 has atm the record of farthest kill, actually 2 talibans in a row, at 2,700 yards o_0 … beatin the macmillan 0.50 record.

The Chey Tac actually has proven itself in combat. It has been in use as an optional platform for snipers like myself that work as “civilian contractors” for the military and as operators that do “unsanctioned” overseas work. The L115A3 isn’t number one, because the record it holds was a result of conditions and the skill of the shooter. It doesn’t have the knockdown power, penetration and antimateriale capabilties of the 50BMG. By the way, Rob Furlong was using American ammo in that Tac .50 and was at an altitude of over 10000 ft. The guns to watch are the Barrett Bravo 98 in .338 Lapua mag and the M107A4 (Barret model 82 in .416 Barrett) The new .416 is being phased in for ops, has 96 inches less drop than the .50 BMG at 2000 yards and has the same kinetic energy at 2500 yards as the .50 has at 2000 yards. All with better penetration.

Distance shooting is an art which can be learned by anyone with the skills of patience, perspective and personal control. But the art of a sniper is concealment and close in target recognition. It is far more effective to take out multiple targets at ranges from 50 to 150mtrs by proper concealment and appropriate weapon/munition and to be invisible to the enemy at the same time. The correct combination has to be the .22WMR hollow point powered down sub-sonic matched with a Target master Anshutz – bull barrel/silenced. Together this combination completely out does anything in the long range bracket. Sorry guys but put me in a concealed position 150 mtrs from a battalion of whoever, and they will not have an officer to question where the bullets are coming from.
A 20mm vehicle mounted canon can take out single targets at 2k mtrs., and the rest will be running like hell from the noise. But a .22 can take out multiple targets at nominal ranges without anyone knowing it… even the ones you hit!

@taj1994, Most of them are American because we come up with the best SWS’s out there. Take the McMillan tac-338 for instance. Holds a confirmed kill at 2100 meters, which quite frankly, I don’t see a dragunov pulling off any feat that astounding anytime soon.
