myshoe Top 10 Banned iPhone Applications Apple has reportedly revamped its apps approval policy in a bid to make Apple marketplace safer and more productive. In light of these new changes, we’ve taken a look at the most outrageous App Store rejects from years past. Whether too sexy, too profane, too offensive, or too partisan, these apps just couldn’t make the cut.

Check out these banned apps below, and vote on which ones you think should (and shouldn’t) have been allowed.

10. I am Rich

This app, nothing more than a ‘glorified screensaver,’ cost $999.99. Once downloaded, a glowing red gem would appear on the screen, followed by the words, “I Am Rich.” Its iTunes description read: “The red icon on your iPhone or iPod Touch always reminds you (and others when you show it to them) that you were able to afford this. It’s a work of art with no hidden function at all.” Eight people actually purchased this functionless app before Apple removed it.

This app simulates a quest for survival when everyone in the schoolyard has been infected by a ‘Zombie Virus.’ The app’s description read: ‘Your local campus has been infected by the Zombie Virus!!! Every one is infected!!! Will you run or will you fight to eliminate all the Zombies… You have the control over the Zombie shooting tower that your supporters have made you. Starting with a single bow and arrow start eliminating the Zombies.’ The app, which was criticized for promoting school violence, was initially approved, then later.

    Take a gander!

    C :)

  2. creators tweaked the premise and released a G-rated version called ”Candy Wars”.

  3. Raj says:

Can’t beleive there are people stupid enough to buy stuff like ‘I am Rich’.

  4. Ashleigh says:

WTF at #3!?!? are you serious? Baby shaker? that is the worst app on the list! #3 should’ve been at #1. Killing babies isn’t funny let alone abusing it. That is like seeing an app for butchering puppies and calling it just for laughs. >:(

  5. Blancheys says:

LOL @ Candy Wars. Silly people.

  6. Office games says:

The baby shaker is actually disgusting and should have been taken off, but hurl shoe at bush – why not ?

  7. J says:

What happened to freedom of speech?

  8. No More says:

Thank GOD!, -I- own an Android phone ;)

  9. LOL says:

nothing should be banned, apple is just afraid of losing a few hundred bucks cuz a few people wont buy them because of “offensive” apps. I, for onr, would buy every single one of themnot including “I am Rich” . and @Ashleigh, i think the baby shaker app would be funny, as well as the puppy butchering one you suggested.

  10. Alan B says:

    @J

Apple is selling these from their store, and they have the right to decide what they want to sell, period. Freedom of speech (expression) does not apply in this case.

I don’t want to live in a G-Rated world in which everything must be tame enough for a kindergarten classroom. I’ll be moving over to the Android platform now that we *finally* have a viable alternative.

  11. Alan C says:

Google has remotely wiped apps from people’s phones, or did you miss that news? This is something Apple hasn’t done. Android phones also have remote install capability (for Google, that is, not you, the user).

Android is full of malware, have fun with your infected Android phone!

    ^cool story bro

  13. [...] The ‘Baby Shaker’ app concept was simple: ‘stop the incessant crying of an infant pictured on screen by violently shaking the iPhone, at which point two red “x” marks appear over the baby’s eyes,’ explains CNET. Although iTunes originally approved the app, they later reconsidered their decision, and pulled the infanticide-simulating Baby Shaker from the App Store Get the full list of banned iPhone apps [...]
