One of my friends in the automobile industry sent me these pics and specs of a new car to be released by volkswagen onto the Shanghai’s market in 2010.
It looks cool for a single seater car but its price is US$600 only! The car will debut this year in the shanghai market and critics are having high hopes with the release of this single seater vehicle due to its low price and the fuel affordability.
Its salient features are:
- It will cruise at 100-120 Km/Hr with an unbelievable 0.99litre/100Km (258 miles/gallon).
- Better than Electric Car – 258 miles/gallon: IPO 2010 in Shanghai. This will beat all the low fuel consumption cars in the world.
- From conception to production: 3 years and the company is headquartered in Hamburg , Germany.
- Gas tank capacity = 1.7 gallons
- Speed = 62 – 74.6 Miles/hour
- Fuel efficiency = 258 miles/gallon
- Travel distance with a full tank = 404 miles
These new line of single seaters are getting more popular as fuel prices rise throughout the world.

Funny how American automakers are always after the money and nothing else. I think that the European automakers have proven themselves time after time that they can build a car plus they invented the automobile as well. I think it is great that VW has a 258 mpg car and I hope they bring it on the market etc. It shows how good engineering from Germany still is. Personally I have never driven anything else but VW…..!
Yes I agree that V.W. has out done them selves with this car , but with the greed of the oil co. and other auto makers and also paid under the table goverment people, I don’t think that it will make it to the states. But I hope that it does, because I would buy one for $600. Hey V.W. if your looking for someone to sell this brand of car, look no further. (I wish the U.S. had a fare trade programe that work.}

Wake up. Do you seriously think they could even produce the motor for $600?? On top of that it looks like a pretty technical interior. Probably more like $15,000+
